The Great Escape, one of the best war films ever made and one of the most daring motorcycle stunts ever performed on film. During filming, McQueen's racing buddy-turned-stunt-double for the film, Bud Ekins jumped 12 feet in the air across 65 feet at around 60 mph. He described the air up there as being total silence, seemingly hanging forever.
