The Walking Dead is back. If you're a fan of the show, you may be interested to know Daryl Dixon rides a vintage Triumph chopper motorcycle. Actually it's a Yamaha XS650 frame with a 1965-1970 Triumph Bonneville engine. The website
EatSleepRide reports that prior to the fame and fortune acting has brought him, actor Norman Reedus regularly spun wrenches at a local motorcycle shop which served him as an income and soul food. Bits and pieces of the bike have changed through the 3 seasons, but the British engine and Japanese frame configuration remains the same.
The photos below show a Reedus astride his own Hammarhead Jack Pine Triumph not seen on the show.
Haven't you heard? Hammarhead is dead. And the owner ran off with everyone's deposit money!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you can watch it outside the UK, but this great documentary was on BBC recently about the glory days of British motorcycles. Plenty of Triumphs - check it out!

Wrong! 70 Triumph frame, 65-69 Triumph TR^ (single carb) engine, Honda front forks.

DeleteI've studied the bike in great detail and built a replica. I know the frame is a '70 model Triumph because of the shape of the frame and the front engine mount which uses three bolts and a triangular steel plate to mount the engine. The mount on the Walking Dead bike is an unusual shape, probably from an aftermarket skid plate.
